Madison Koller Metcalf

President


Madison Metcalf is from Owensboro, Kentucky and formerly served as our Vice President and Secretary. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University's American Sign Language and Interpreter Education Program. From her first mission trip in 2011 led by her teacher Mike Haake, she was hooked and felt called by God to become a sign language interpreter. She wanted to support the Deaf community that touched her life in such an impactful way. She works as an ASL Interpreter for Daviess County Public Schools and for several interpreting agencies.



Mike Haake

Vice President/Secretary


Mike Haake is from Lexington, Kentucky and served as NWHDM’s President through 2023. In 2007, Mike and his wife Rebecca adopted their deaf son from Haiti. For many years since then Mike has lead teams to northwest Haiti to work with the Deaf Community. Feeling a call to do more to help his deaf friends, Mike was excited to start Northwest Haiti Deaf Ministries in 2017.  He currently works as a high school math teacher.

Harley Metcalf

Treasurer


Harley Metcalf, Owensboro, KY, is an Apprentice Carpenter with Delegate Owensboro Union Local 224.  He is an active fundraiser and volunteer for the Owensboro Barbeque Festival, the Order of the Eagles, and is now reaching out to help internationally with NWHDM.  He is also involved in Owensboro Young Professionals and numerous local civic organizations. 



Emily Kuderna

Board Member


Emily Kuderna began working with the deaf while in high school. She got a degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing at Illinois State University and then worked for 4 years as a special education teacher. She now works with families who have infants ages birth to three with hearing loss doing Aural Rehab.


Emily visited Haiti for the first time in August 2017 and immediately fell in love with the people in the Deaf community in Saint-Louis-du-Nord. She joined the board shortly after her first trip and is eager to serve the community she fell in love with. Emily lives in a suburb outside Chicago, Illinois with her husband and son.



Rebecca Haake

Board Member


Rebecca Haake serves on our Board of Directors.

She is from Lexington, Kentucky and works as a speech-language pathologist.  In 2007, Rebecca and her husband Mike adopted their deaf son from Haiti.  Rebecca has also served on the SBDM council at Kentucky School for the Deaf and is excited to work to provide greater educational opportunities for deaf children in northwest Haiti.



Rolgard Casimir

Board Member


Rolgard is originally from Haiti and previously worked at Northwest Haiti Christian Mission before

moving to Kentucky in 2008. Currently he lives in Georgetown, KY with his wife, Erin, and two children, Micah and Brielle. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016 with a BS in Public Health. He is employed by the University of Kentucky as a health educator. Having worked with the special needs population while in Haiti, Rolgard has a heart for helping those in the deaf community in and around the Northwest region.
